Technical-grade low-viscosity carboxymethylcellulose (CMC LVT) is an alkali metal salt of carboxymethylcellulose. The product is a free-flowing or granulated powder and is not normally purified of the by-products formed in the reaction. It is free of any starch and starch derivatives. In drilling fluid, it works as filtration reducer to reducing the fluid loss,  rheology controller, suspension agent to suspend heavy objects.
